How to Protect Yourself from Summer Sun Damage

With global warming increasing every year, the balance of the world continues to deteriorate. As the ozone layer gets thinner, the way the sun's rays reach the earth changes. The rays reach the earth much more intense and almost unfiltered. But the sun's rays in the summer months damage our skin the most. While some of the effects on the body are immediate, others are long-lasting and come later. Even for your body's vitamin D needs, you should not stay in the midday sun for too long. These rays also damage our skin. It can cause problems such as skin spots and cancer. For these reasons, you should protect yourself from the sun, especially in summer.

Avoid the Sun between 11.00-16.00!

The most effective way to protect from the sun is to reduce contact with the sun. Between 11.00 and 16.00, the sun's rays descend perpendicular to the earth's surface. You should not go out during these hours unless you have to. If you are outside during these hours, clothes that reduce contact will protect you from the sun. For example, UV-protected T-shirts, glasses, and hats are very useful. But if you are on vacation, it can be more difficult to escape the sun. In this case, sunscreens become your savior.

Beware of Reflected Rays from Elsewhere!

If the region you are in has a humid climate, the reflections of the sun are more intense. Coastal areas are also among the areas you should pay attention to. You should especially pay attention to the rays reflected from the umbrella on the sand. From infancy to 18 years of age, it is necessary to be protected from the sun much more. Because the cumulative dose is formed until the age of 18. The protection provided in this age range is important for later ages. If adequate protection is not provided, future skin problems may not be prevented.

Don't Just Say Clothes

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to fully protect yourself from the sun. In such cases, your choice of clothing is important. It is useful to wear light-toned clothes that reflect the sun. Wearing a hat to protect your head and quality sunglasses for your eyes makes it easier to protect yourself. Especially if you are on vacation, the importance you should give to your choice of clothes increases. Children can wear T-shirts that cover their bodies in light tones that do not transmit the sun. Exposed areas such as arms and legs should be creamed at regular intervals.

Choose Your Sunscreen Wisely

There are thousands of sunscreen brands and products on the market. However, creams taken without research can cause problems on your skin. For this reason, you should not apply any product to your skin. The ingredients in the creams are important because they are applied to a sensitive place like the skin. Sunscreens are divided into two groups. The first group, physical filter creams, protect your skin by reflecting sunlight. The white thick layer they create helps to protect your skin. These creams contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Physical filter creams are especially recommended for children.

Chemical filter creams protect your skin by absorbing sunlight. However, if you are thinking of buying a cream with a chemical filter, it is useful to look at the content of the cream. There are many creams on the market with this feature. Creams containing para amino benzoic acid and oxybenzone are not suitable for children. There are two important criteria for physical filter and chemical filter creams. It is approved by the Ministry of Health and physicians.
Your body needs vitamin D from the sun. But it is a fact that too much sun damages your skin. Even if we reduce our contact with the sun to a certain extent, a single method will not be beneficial. You should choose clothes that will protect you when you go out at certain times.  Creaming the exposed parts of your body also has a great effect on protecting your skin. You should make sure that the creams you use are approved and above factor 50. Remember that you can get positive results when you apply all these methods.
